First Book Signing

Wow, I cannot believe it's only 22 days until my first ever book signing.

#BirminghamsFirst with my erotic Series Desires and my recent new release a sweet romance Innocence

I will confess I have typically left to get all my swag together at the last minute, that's me. I use to be organized now its 'I have plenty of time' erm 22 days Holly. No I don't have the time, so here I am getting my swag together and getting ready for a nerve-racking weekend. I have no idea if anyone will be coming to my table, but I will be certainly walking around to meet other authors and see what they have to offer. I am going more for the experience, the feel, and just to be amongst many other crazy thinking people.

I also cannot wait to attend the book themed fancy dressed party, and meeting some co-author friends from Secret Cravings Publishing who I've been in contact with for a few years since getting my first contract, so meeting them is going to be totally wicked!

Good Life!

This week has been a sad one. However I wish to celebrate a good life, a happy life, a woman with wise words of encouragement.  I've had to say 'goodbye' to a special person, the person might have only been in my life a short time but the fact remains without this person and  I might not be where I am now with my writing career.

This person was one of the first I'd shared the wonderful news of getting my first signed book contract for Secret Cravings Publishing for Desires my erotic series,  she was over the moon, not only had she been an avid reader through her life, she's always said to me 'I love to read but it takes a special person to create a book and put the story together' I was always blown away by her compliments and how she called me MFF (My famous Friend) It felt rewarding, joyful and made me more importantly smile. She always wanted to see my front covers and I couldn't wait to show her them, I'd talk about plots and what did she think, we talked about authors and who was her favourite one. she introduced me to anyone who came into the building, 'this is my MFF, she's a published author'. She was especially excited when I spoke only a few weeks ago about visiting the local university to talk a students, I told her how nervous I was, she said, 'you will be great. You love your writing career'. I then told her the same day I would be going on a local broadcasting show. Her words, 'See you are going places, love it and enjoy it'. When I next saw her last weekend I told her all about the talk to the students and being interviewed on the TV and she said 'see I knew you'd love it and be fine. It's what you love and you have great passion MFF. I am so proud of you'.

I will miss these special conversations. Her very last words to me where 'Keep writing and love it' Rest in Peace!

Best Cover!

I personally love this cover due to the fact the couple in the cover where who inspired me for Calvin and Kacey. My dream came true having these two appear on the front cover, and will feature on all four books for the series

Students!

A Talk to Students

I will confess when a friend approached me about doing a talk at the local university a few months back I never imagined what I would achieve. I will admit when visiting the university to where I would be doing the talk to the 17 year old I was nervous. I've never experienced doing a talk before and I am pretty rubbish at talking in public, but however I will say writing is a subject I know well and have a great passion for.

The last few days Id been preparing for the talk, putting together hand-outs, to help the students with any advice I could possibly give, I did one about a list of books to help potential writers, promotion and media, how to sell yourself.

Today I turned up at the university and I will admit, a few nerves took over my tummy and I asked the question 'what on earth am I doing here?' But once I got prepped and started talking after my introduction the talk flowed, talking about publishers, writing process, media, promoting, what publishers look for, and wow...I loved every single second. It showed me how much I love my writing and how much I know about the marketing industry. The talk was set for 30-45 minutes, I went over that time 1hour and 15 minutes, just went to show my mouth can run away with me. I had many students taking notes, loving what I was telling them the positive and negatives. I even got handshakes at the end of the talk :)

Satisfied and delighted with the end
result I mentioned to the teachers if ever they'd wish me to visit again I would.

If I can help in anyway I can...I will!

Song behind Innocence! Book 1

Powerful and Emotional!

As songs go for when writing the first book for the Innocence series I found myself at a friends wedding on the 18th of April, Easter Friday, the process of Innocence had already started and then while sat enjoying the evening reception, this tune came on...now if you read Innocence you will be able to relate to the song and how much influence, power and emotion I created for the first book. The song is explanatory, the song whenever heard is only related to Innocence for me and the pain and sacrifices that Kacey had made over the years of her life and how those decisions have now very much caught her up and she becomes exposed and there is only now one direction for her, to finally share all her pain and secrets.

Katy B - Crying for no reason!

We all know that one day things will come back to bite us on the bum, catch us out at some point and leave us totally flabbergasted and having to explain the actions and why you took the road we do to hide such things. We're all guilty in believing we can push things to the back of our minds, but it all depends on what your trying to hide. No matter what decisions we make during youth or adulthood, it can leave other people's lives tipped upside down and needing radical explanations. We all suffer and in Kacey's story its the innocent lives who she turns their world into a spin, creating emotions, feelings and the pure devastation, only is she given the chance to explain, tell the truth and will they forgive her?

To celebrate the Release of Innocence I'm giving a chance to win an Amazon gift voucher, all you have to do is add  Innocence On Goodreads! to your 'want to read' and your in for a chance
